Week 7 - Weekly Assessment

Alpha!

For our game, we decided that using the Game Maker engine would be the most productive approach to developing the game. We would have loved to make it in XNA, but with the very very tight time constraints, and limited programming resources, Game Maker was an obvious choice.

So this past week has been all about getting the Alpha up with the basic game mechanics of shooting, angles, and selecting weapons. The fog-of-war mechanic has yet to be figured out. Filler graphics were used, as the artists on the team are conceptualizing/producing the final art work.

I decided that it wasn't necessary to schedule a meeting this week, as we had brief discussions in the lab, on Thursday (in a different class), and online.

This week, I will be handing off the Alpha to Darrell and Jack, so that they can work on the fog-of-war, and AI/multiplayer aspects of the game. I will take on more of a backseat position this week, so that I can oversee how the art and programming are going and provide sufficient feedback without the distractions of getting the game to work.
